Statement of Need
Organizations carry out a number of business activities. The activities generating financial information used for planning and controlling business operations and making various finance decision. Modern management therefore, needs to have basic knowledge of the language used to record business activities and to prepare statements that contain financial information. The information is generated by Accounting and Finance Systems, So, in order to equip modern management with adequate knowledge and skills for making correct financial decision, there is need for managers and officers to be conversant with Accounting and Finance business language, and hence the need for a programme for Non-Finance Managers.

Objectives of the Programme
This course aims at empowering managers and officers with the basic knowledge, skills and competences in Accounting and Finance as well as enabling them to make diligent financial decisions. By the end of the program they are able to:

  • Appreciate accounting and finance and the information generated by the accounting and Finance department
  • Understand accounting and finance principle used by financial profession
  • Prepare basic financial statements, analyze and interpret them, as well as using the information to make correct financial decisions at various organizational echelons including at the level of Board of Directors
