Statement of Need
This is a programme on the important but ignored area of Human Capital Management. There has been a wrong assumption that since organizations employ qualified and experienced job seekers there is no need of worrying about their level of competence and performance. We are aware that success in an examination does not guarantee success on the job for reasons of varying nature and environment of work. While coaching serves to improve work skills, mentoring assists employee in planning their careers while counseling facilitates avoidance of bad attitude and uncalled behaviors.

Objectives of the Programme
As alluded above competences in the areas will empower officers who will then assist disadvantaged employees. By the end of the programme participants shall be knowledgeable and skilled in:

  • Coaching underperforming employee
  • Mentoring employees who are not career oriented
  • Counseling troublesome employees thereby helping them avoid disciplinary action
  • Dealing with pitfalls in coaching, mentoring and counseling

  • Overview of career planning and development
  • Sources of employees indiscipline
  • Development of coaching, mentoring and counseling policy
  • Developing coaching, mentoring and Counseling plans and
  • Competence profile for coaches, mentors and counselors

The programme is a must for all Human Resource management financial management from public and private sector organizations especially Government Ministries and Parastatal organizations.
