Statement of Need
Effective Leadership is of paramount importance for national development. Our countries are facing many problems including backwardness, illiteracy, ignorance, poverty and diseases. Many African countries have celebrated fifty years of political independence yet still faced with above problems. One effective toot for dealing with them is practicing transformational leadership as recently shown by countries such as Ghana, Rwanda, Tanzania, Botswana and Ethiopia to mention a few. Pragmatic management is equally important importance for transforming Mission statements into tangible results. Learning about transformational leadership and later management and practicing their ideals could be the key to moving our countries forward hence this programme.
Objectives of the Programme
The main aim of this learning event is to impart knowledge on leadership and management. By the end of the course participants shall be capable of:
- Differentiating with accuracy between leadership and management
- Identifying and explaining various types of leadership
- Identify and explain various leadership and management styles and approaches
- Narrating key leadership and management values and Beliefs, and
- Practicing transformational leadership for the benefit of their stakeholders
